Let us present: the first release candidate for the upcoming OpenTTD 1.1.0. Next to a few new features like a minimal industry density setting or a much improved UI of the console by allowing mouse scrolling there, a well-sized list of bugs has been

addressed since the last beta release, among them a number of bugs which crashed OpenTTD under certain conditions. See the full changelog here.
Please test this release candidate and report any bugs and problems you encounter with it in our bug tracker in order to help us improve the game further and make sure the final release for 1.1.0 will even be better and more stable.
Enjoy!

Submissions for our title game competitions are closed as of now and we received with 34 submissions quite a lot and very nice savegames for use of the title game with the OpenTTD 1.1 series.
The poll is open now. The designation of winning
... [More]
entries will be done in two steps, two voting rounds. The first voting round starts now and lasts till March 1st and the result will be a shortlist of three savegames. Everyone may vote once and nominate and rank his or her top three entries. The favourite one will get 3 points, the 2nd ranked one two and the 3rd ranked one one point. Upon closure of polls, the results will be published in detail. Votes are cast by sending me an e-mail with your ranking list of the top three savegames; use the suppied link here or on the titlegame page for a read-prepared e-mail.
The top three in cumulated points from all votes will constitute the short list for the subsequent 2nd round of votes which will then only have one winner.
Now it is up to you to judge which of the submissions will make it into the final round. Have a look through all entries on our official title game competition page where you can view screenshots of all savegames. You also have the option to download all games (4MiB) and screenshots in several sizes (400MiB!) for more convenient view offline.
We are looking forward to your votes :-)

The first betas of the upcoming OpenTTD 1.1.0 have already been released and we're looking for a new title game.
As done successfully for the last major branch, the 1.0 series, we also hold a title game competition this year. The exact requirements
... [More]
on the map are laid out in the thread in our forum dedicated to the title game competition. In order to participate you simply add your title game suggestion to that thread. Possibly post for quick orientation a screenshot as the overall screenshot overview cannot be updated daily. Deadline for submissions is February 14th - so join the competition for the nicest and best show-off map for the OpenTTD title game of the OpenTTD 1.1 series :-).
After submissions are closed, the general public (so also you!) may vote on the entries in two rounds: first round of votes will be held in order to select a few for a short list. The subsequent final round will choose among these finalists. [Less]

Dear players, developers and admins,
another step for 1.1.0 has been made, the beta4. It contains a lot of bugfixes, including fix for crash/hangup on opening the smallmap window on big-endian platforms and several savegame conversion fixes.
Apart from that, important changes are in the Place Object and Build Rail Station windows. Now, you can select the item you want from a graphical preview - see the forum.
Many players and NewGRF developers will welcome better support for NewGRF railtypes, and server admins can now (re)set the password of any company.
List of important changes is in the changelog - it's even longer than the changelog for beta2 and beta3.
Any bugs you find should be reported at our bug tracker - please report them, as it makes OpenTTD better :-)
Stay tuned for further betas and/or RCs - not talking about the final 1.1.0 release :-) [Less]

The next beta for 1.1 is available. This first release in 2011 fixes again some bugs for further stabilising, but also adds a few features.
Most noticeable: Server admins can now define limits for terraforming, both to prevent vandalism as well as
... [More]
forcing the player to build with the landscape.
Please enjoy the new beta release, and report any issues spoiling the fun to our bug tracker. You can find the download as usual on the top-left of this page. [Less]

It's time again, as a little Christmas present we present the first beta of 1.1.0. As usual you'll need a
graphics base set which can either be the original TTD base set or OpenGFX. New things in this release
include extended support for NewGRFs
... [More]
(especially NewObjects), an industry chain preview and much improved
handling in the GUI when loading games and configuring NewGRFs (including their parameters). There is also
a new admin-interface which allows server control over another network port. Check out the whole list
of changes in the changelog.
Also we recently started to provide binaries for Mac OS X again, thus this release is also
available for Mac users.
At the same time we'd like to encourage people to have a thorough
look at the translation into their
preferred language. Now is a good time to get your language up to date for the upcoming 1.1.0 release.
In order to register as translator you need an account with OpenTTD (e.g. the one you
might already have for the wiki or the bug tracker) and notify the translation manager
(see here for details) of their desire to
help with translations.
We would like to thank everyone who has made this release possible, happy testing :-) and a good holiday
season to all of you. [Less]

Today we updated openttd-useful.zip to change a library to support natural sorting of strings.
If you want to compile upcoming releases/nightlies/trunk you have to update, however if you want to compile OpenTTD before r21340 you will need version
... [More]
3.4. To be able to compile both OpenTTD revisions before and after r21340 you have to install version 3.4 first and then install version 4.0 over that.
If you do not compile OpenTTD yourself or you are not using Microsoft's compiler you will not be affected. [Less]

It's time for a release: OpenTTD 1.0.5.
As usual it contains a fine assortment of bugfixes from various areas and updated translations. It also fixes
CVE-2010-4168. Thanks to all testers.
Now, go straight for the download at the top, and have fun!
