I've been using GIMP for years and am very happy with it, it can edit and analyze photos, create pixel art, apply effects, convert formats, there is a lot of useful plugins as well. It has some minor issues, such as lower performance with some effects, inability of plugins to modify the program itself which makes it lack some advanced features, such as a tiling canvas... but there are workarounds for most of these. I suppose the active community will make the program even better in the future. Thank you for this great editor.
I haven't finished the game yet, but already had much fun. The world in extremely detailed among free games, I found myself lost in the story which is very well written. I would just appreciate a bit more polished graphics and sound.
Easy to use, yet powerful. Inkscape has been helping me make vector graphics for years, be it games, UML diagrams or figures for my theses. I love it. The only improvement I could think of would be animation support.
I don't think anyone here needs to hear the epic story behind Linux and how elegant, stable and secure it is nowadays. Shame it still hasn't become the majority kernel on desktop. I hope it does soon.
GCC powers our free software and we owe a lot to it. It's always my first choice for compiling C/C++. There's many useful options, such as optimizations, different compilation stages, warning messages etc. The only problem I can remember was a missing support for some new advanced C++ header from the standard lib, but that's basically it. Can't even remember facing any bugs. Awesome job here.
As a contributor I tested OpenMW a lot. It's great, fully playable and in many areas already more advanced than the vanilla engine. The community is awesome. As if this wasn't enough, it also comes with a world editor and recently also a multiplayer mod.
