Hello ArgoUML fans!
The ArgoUML community of developers is proud to present a new stable release of ArgoUML, i.e. ArgoUML 0.14. Since the previous stable release (0.12 on October 9th 2002) a lot of problems have been fixed. Counting through our
... [More]
bug database it is amazing to notice that no less than 555 issues has been resolved between 0.12 and 0.14.
ArgoUML 0.14 is however not bug-free. The release is made with 340 known problems. Much of this comes from the fact that we have put the bug reporting tool to much better use keeping track of all sorts of problems big and small.
The funny thing with ArgoUML being an Open Source is that since we work with our bug list out in the open so you can look at all bugs yourself. There isn't any hidden known problems list. Another thing is that it is possible for you to fix any of these bugs yourself and contribute the fix to the next version of ArgoUML. As mind-boggling as it sounds, this is what we are currently doing. Admittedly, the process of taking care of all sorts of contributions is not really in place and we have problems to stay focused on the most pressing matters. I think that is what you get when you work like we do with a core project groups spread in several continents.
Amazingly enough through all this ArgoUML has been, is and will be a tool containing interesting new ideas in the field of UML design.
If you would like to contribute your ideas and your time to the further development of this project you are welcome to do so by joining the project. You can also use ArgoUML as a framework to test your own ideas on how to build tools for UML design.
On the Internet, ArgoUML has become one of the most well-known UML projects. If you look for 'UML' at Google you will find it on the first page. If you search for 'UML tool' it shows up first (unless you look at the Sponsored links to the right were we are not present).
Since 0.12 the following big changes have been made (I am surely forgetting a lot of them):
Saving todo items is implemented.
The not-working sequence diagrams are disabled.
Toolbars are introduced.
Possible to change the look and feel.
Export via XMI added.
Import compiled java from classfiles (available as auxiliary module)
Rudimentary code generation for PHP, C++, C# (available as auxiliary modules).
On top of this countless problems are solved so it is fair to say that this is the best ArgoUML ever.
You can download ArgoUML 0.14 from the the web site
http://argouml.tigris.org . You can also start 0.14 from Java Web Start from the same place although it is called 0.14.1 there. The reason for this is a problem with Java Web Start found in 0.14 and fixed in 0.14.1.
Thanks to everyone that have made this possible.

The Development release 0.14.beta1 is now released.
This is the fifth, and hopefully the last, release leading up to the next stable release i.e. the 0.14 release.
The plan is now to verify and close all resolved issues and create a list of
... [More]
known problems to go together with the 0.14 release.
Comments
We have been very restrictive with the amount of changes in this release. This is good because it reduces the risk that we have introduced new problems. On the other hand, this also means that very few problems are solved.
Please help in verifying the Resolved issues and close the Verified issues. Hopefully we will be able to finish this work this week and make the 0.14 release by next weekend. There is a lot of work to be done with this.

The Development release 0.14.alpha4 is now released.
This is the fourth release leading up to the next stable release i.e. the 0.14 release.
In this release the old sequence diagrams are disabled (issue 2102) and a null pointer exception from
... [More]
the classfiles modules is fixed (issue 2094).
Comments
The release 0.14.alpha4 is the defects freeze release for 0.14. This means that we now can prepare the known problems list for 0.14. There are currently 311 open defects.

The Development release 0.14.alpha2 is now released.
The only differences in this release as compared to 0.14.alpha1 is on the source code level. Indentation and file encoding. It should function exactly like the previous alpha.
Please help in verifying closed issues.
