Tried almost all options in copy_from_user(): - __copy_from_user() that bypasses checks - direct memcpy() - with explicit void* cast - various sizeof() args etc., with numerous rebuilds and every time the copy from __user pointer fails and vaddr is set to ffffffff always.There seems to be something not obvious and abnormal going on. Interestingly even after commenting copy_from_user() the kernel memory gets corrupted though virgo_unique_id_to_addr() correctly scans and prints the cast address. (vaddr gets set to ffffffff in printk() somehow out of nowhere). This happens irrespective of allocating the kernel buffer from stack or with kmalloc(). At present invoking both copy_from_user() and memcpy which both do not work. Though const pointer could have been used, above should have worked. Ongoing bugfix.

Changed VIRGO Unique ID type to unsigned long to match with typedef uintptr_t for C99 pointer type. Kernel (3.7.8) seems to have typedef only of uintptr_t and not intptr_t.

Miscellaneous cast related fixes. copy_from_user() return type is set to long. More printk() added to investigate why the vaddr and data get junk values after copy_from_user() which should have worked correctly as this is the convention in most of the linux drivers. Also set the length of bytes to BUF_SIZE-1 in copy_from_user()

Ongoing bugfix for virgo_cloud_set() Kernel Panic. Allocated the destination data instead of pointer before copy_from_user(). Added more printk() for debug info. copy_to_user() for Virgo Unique ID is working.

Changed the return types of virgo mempool syscalls to long from long long. Added long long __user* vuid as an arg to virgo_malloc() so that VUID is copied from kernelspace to userspace using copy_to_user() without disturbing return type convention of long for syscalls.

Significant rewrite of virgo mempool syscalls with signature changes for an added __user space pointer argument for doing copy_from_user() and copy_to_user() from and to the userspace pointer which is a cleaner way to get and set the userspace address from kernelspace. Also the header file syscalls.h has been updated with latest prototype for mempool syscalls. Two new functions have been added to map the virgo address to a unique id and viceversa to abstract the hardware addresses from the userspace code. Thus user programs would only see a UVID (unique virgo identifier) for an address entry chunk allocated on the cloud.
