Did you rename it from "splitbrain-dokuwiki-plugin-upgrade-719e656.zip" to "upgrade" in your lib/plugins/ folder?

Hello, Many thanks for your patience with my lack of sophistication here. I am trying to add the upgrade plugin to my dokuwiki, so I can upgrade from an old version. I download the upgrade plugin ... [More] (splitbrain-dokuwiki-plugin-upgrade-719e656.zip), unzip it into a folder, and put that folder in /doku/lib/plugins on my server. Permissions are 775. However, when I do so, the list of  plugins disappears from admin functions, instead of adding the upgrade function as I would expect it to. Any thoughts? [Less]

securing dokuwiki, especially the data folder, is not that generic. when using the default location /data, the access protection must be handled by the webserver. there is already a .htaccess file in the data folder to block access. but this only ... [More] works on an apache where .htaccess is enabled. other webserver like nginx or iis won't support this htaccess way. in this case the admin must ensure that it's properly protected. to change the server config is not possible in a normal server environment. on *nix based systems you need a root user to change the config an maybe restart the webserver, similar on windows. another method to protect the data folder is to move out of a webserver folder. this case can also not be handled in a generic way. what should be the default location for it? Can you see a connection on the remote SMTP server?

Instead of displaying generalized warnings that directories are not properly secured, why not include a setup config portion of the script that will handle these issues?  Or, make the messages more specific about what it thinks might be wrong. This will make installation a little smoother.
