[More] action that was not unpredictable given the public departure of Kondik (cyanogen himself) from the company, and with him our last remaining advocate inside Cyngn’s leadership. In addition to infrastructure being retired, we in the CM community have lost our voice in the future direction of CM – the brand could be sold to a third party entity as it was an asset that Kondik risked to start his business and dream. Even if we were to regroup and rebuild our own infrastructure, continuing development of CM would mean to operate with the threat of sale of the brand looming over our heads. We’ve been improving some of the CM infrastructure recently… * All sites and services force https now (much needed). Thanks again to Cloudflare for the continued support. * Upgraded our Gerrit instance to 2.13.2 * Build servers now compile and ... [More] upload in parallel, which should give us much more capacity. Previously this happened as a single step, and a slow network would block everything else * Rolling server upgrades (apologies for any downtime) In the coming weeks we’ll also we rolling out a new download portal with a smart mirror redirector and improved API. It’s been a long wait, but tonight we will kick off the first CM14.1 nightly builds (based on Android 7.1) for a handful of devices. It’s still very early on for this release and a number of features (like Themes) aren’t available yet, but ... [More] development is progressing. The devices which are part of the first push: angler (Nexus 6P) bullhead (Nexus 5X) cancro (Xiaomi Mi3w/Mi4) d855 (LG G3) falcon/peregrine/thea/titan (Moto G variants) h811/h815 (LG G4) klte/kltedv/kltespr/klteusc/kltevzw (Samsung Galaxy S5) oneplus3 (OnePlus 3) Z00L/Z00T (Zenphone 2) Bug reports are OK, but please don’t file bugs for missing features since this is all a work in progress. Now is a great time to get involved with the project too- CM is returning to it’s community-driven roots and there are endless ways to help out. DEF CON 24 is officially in the books, so what better time to release a new CM snapshot, full of new features and security updates? These releases were branched on August 1st, 2016 (branch stable/cm-13.0-ZNH5Y) and bring our snapshot releases up from ... [More] Android 6.0.1 r17 to Android 6.0.1 r61. The first thing you should notice is our new custom boot & dexopt screen, getting rid of that bright white for something a bit prettier and informative to look at while your phone upgrades; AMOLED users rejoice! Shoutout to Asher, Joey and Alexander M. for the awesome work! I wanted to quickly address the circus of misinformation which has sprung up recently, particularly for everyone who uses CM or has been involved with the project. tl;dr: CyanogenMod isn’t going anywhere, nor has Cyanogen Inc. discontinued it’s ... [More] efforts towards the goal of bringing it to a larger audience. It’s been seven years since I released the first version of CM, and so much has happened. The speed of the mobile space is only accelerating. I co-founded the company three years ago, knowing fully the kind of response it might invoke- an epic mix of love and hate. We had a few successes at the Inc, but also our share of stuff which just didn’t work at all. Anyone insane enough to do a startup will tell you that it will probably go wrong before it goes right, no matter how good your intentions are. All you can do is fix it, or it’s ...Read the Rest...
