Feedback Forum : Person rakning is now so flawed its not even funny

Hey guys I've always liked Ohloh since I'm a stats and open source junkie, but the recent rankings show how flawed the algorithms currently are so it's not even funny any more. Now we have a brand ... [More] new user ranked #1 with 464 commits and a #2 with 20 commits. I'm convinced no human ever would rank them this high. That's a sign of the ranking algorithm being a failure. Please consider making them more in line with how ordinary people would consider the ranking to be, as ohloh becomes less useful and interesting when we see stupid results as this output from all the useful input it gets! I blogged about this a while ago but nothing seems to have change since then so perhaps I should leave a link to my post: http://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2008/11/28/4-ohloh-improvements-id-like/ [Less]

Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0 : It would be useful to be able

Allow me to draw attention to this little request (even if the title of this thread is very unfortunate). As long as dependencies aren't at least attempted to get tracked, we get a very skewed ... [More] (bordering to completely inaccurate) view on the used by counter etc as random users won't mark underlying but important corner stones of the system. [Less]

Feedback Forum : smarter matching of users?

Hey, Since ohloh now has gathered quite a few project, and lots of these projects are hosted by popular hosting sites (such as sourceforge or its clones), it would make sense to start connecting ... [More] people simply on their user names on these particular sites. I mean, user 'foo' on sourceforge is in fact the same user in all projects hosted by sourceforge, and I bet that goes for savannah and other places as well. So if you this is me in project A at sourceforge, you can be certain that foo in project B and project C is the same person. Just an idea to better connect people of various projects, even when they in fact haven't created an account here... [Less]

Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0 : Make "Top Gainer" project list more useful?

Jason, that sounds like a much better approach than what we see now at least so give it a shot and see. You can always trim it further later on should it not be enough.

Feedback Forum : one CVS repo, two projects

Thanks for your swift work and reply. I have the deepest respect and understanding for that not everything ends up exactly as I would have guessed.
