Such and similar data gathered throughout the entire ohloh project would be useful for a number of applications, from ads to research, to events, groups and so on. Might be worth to think into that
Or, when you search for the project to see if it's already listed, and fail to find it, the results page also asks you to create a new project.

How about an RSS feed for new projects? At least listing the last XX names, but ideally maybe including some project description as well. And linked to the project page at Ohloh.
How about adding at least a link to the Forum?
