This project will be making using of the instant messaging api available under the collab module in netbeans to come up with a fully functional yet basic client.
The main focus of the project is to come up with a client which will be the starting ground for developers to work on and build their own clients.
The IM client which will get developed would be illustrating and showcasing the various api aspects , the idioms and best practises while still remaining simple enough to be understable and reusable.
The use of the IM api's would be showcased - including the various supported features.
It will be a fully functional and compliant client ... but the focus will be less on 'pretty looking UI' and more on increasing developer awareness about XMPP and the available opensource libraries to aid in developing rich clients.
