Project Summary
phpWebIRC is a web application that allows users to join an IRC server without directly connecting to it by using the web server and normal port 80 http communication as proxy server.
It consists of two major parts:
- An ajax frontend with the chat UI
- A server daemon backend script that serves as (the real) IRC client
phpWebIRC doesn't require its users to accept any security certificate, download any Java/Flash plugins or change firewall settings. It should just run on almost every modern web browser (Mozilla Firefox 1+, Internet Explorer 6+). It is fully written in PHP5.
