Most of you have probably already seen the blog post regarding the RFC process for hook locations to be added to Ascraeus (phpBB 3.1). And many of you may not know what a hook system actually is, so I will take the time to explain it. In Olympus (phpBB 3.0) all new additions to the [...]

The Styles Team is pleased to announce the formation of the Junior Style Validators team. Similar to its counterpart on the MOD Team, the JSV Team will be composed of community members who assist the Styles Team in validating user-submitted styles
... [More]
within the Customisation Database.Their role will include testing styles to ensure that everything displays and functions correctly and that they adhere with the rules set in place by the Styles Submission Policy. They will also be the first responders when a submission enters the Styles Database, which consists of quickly checking submissions and pointing out those that contain major issues. We hope that by opening up the validation process to style authors and community members in general, we'll be able to improve our own policies and understanding within the community of how the Styles Team functions. The Styles Team has been quite small over the past few years in comparison to the other core teams and thus we hope that this will provide another source of potential candidates for full membership that will be extensively prepared for their jobs as validators. The requirements for becoming a Junior Style Validator are very simple and are as follows: Must have comprehensive knowledge of xHTML, CSS, phpBB's default styles, and the templating system. Be able to communicate effectively in English. Be familiar with the Styles Submission Policy. If you're interested in becoming a Junior Style Validator, you can fill out an application here.Thank you,The phpBB Styles Team------------------------Please discuss this announcement in the [Discuss] Junior Style Validators topic. Last week, some six dozen people, invited guests, interested users, and team members gathered in New York City’s Times Square to talk phpBB. I’ll steal one of Douglas’s moments of zen from his concluding talk. He posed the question Why are you here?, and received responses such as the following: - To dedicate some time [...]
