Project Summary

Open launchd is a port of Apple's launchd(8) daemon to non-Darwin systems (primarily FreeBSD). launchd is an event-based init system originally developed by Dave Zarzycki at Apple. The init system has the benefits of watchdog capability (socket activation), an event driven model, and a faster boot up through the parallelization of startup services.
