DOM too unwieldy and SAX too complicated?
Analysis of many parsing tasks has lead to MiniDOM.
There is analternative to either a huge DOM or the fragmented events of SAX.
By registering handlers against specific tags, miniDOMs are provided when each associated tag is closed. Hence the advantage of each.
