Project Summary

Libsbuf allows one to easily and safely manipulate character strings in plain C, taking care of e.g. reallocation and bounds checking. Originally written for FreeBSD, it was later included in MacOS X. It's being used by several Open Source projects, such as Varnish Cache.

The sbuf family of functions was designed by Poul-Henning Kamp and implemented by Dag-Erling Smørgrav. Additional improvements were suggested by Justin T. Gibbs. Auto-extend support added by Kelly Yancey. My own (Edward's) involvement was limited to adding autotools infrastructure and making it easier to use for projects outside FreeBSD.
