This revision fixes a bug in recovery after abnormal termination. All users of the previous revisions of 1.7.3 are strongly advised to switch to this revision. The bug is described in the changelist_1_7_3.txt file and doe not affect 1.7.2 or 1.8.0 releases. (1 comments)

HSQLDB is a relational database engine written in Java, with a JDBC driver, supporting a subset of ANSI-92 SQL. It offers a small (about 100k), fast database engine which offers both in memory and disk based tables. This product includes Hypersonic ... [More] SQL.Yesterday, Slashdot profiled the new Open Office 2.0 BETA with what was referred to as an "Access-like application." That "Access-like application" is HSQLDB(misidentified as hSQL). Slashdot story:http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/20/1517206&tid=185 First Review:http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20293 "One noteworthy addition to this upcoming 2.0 OO.o release is the HSQLEmbedded database engine a fast Java-based embedded database enginethat once surprised everyone by beating IBM's Cloudscape (now alsoopen sourced) and even C databases. Also included is a user friendlydatabase application dubbed "OpenOffice Base" which allows you toeffortlessly create both databases, queries and reports using helpful"wizards". Current 1.x versions of OpenOffice lack an embeddeddatabase and only the commercial StarOffice product includes one inthe form of the bundled "Adabas D" licensed from Software AG, but eventhen such a friendly database front-end is missing from SO7." BETA Release Intro and download page:http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html Congratulations to the OO.o team and thank you for the vote ofconfidence in choosing HSQLDB as your database of choice. InterestedHSQLDB developers and documentation writers, I'm sure, would bewelcomed with "Open Office.org arms" should they with to help the OO.oeffort by submitting documentation, suggested code snippets and templates and tips and tricks to the OO.o team.
