HIPL is an implementation of the Host Identity Protocol (HIP) and related infrastructure for Linux. The goal of HIP is to change the TCP/IP stack to securely support mobility and multi-homing.

HIPL is maintained by the Aalto University (former Helsinki University of Technology), the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology and the Distributed Systems Group from RWTH Aachen university.
