As already released version 1.0 of the major components of Grub, it's time for a roadmap to version 2.0. As you can see, the current system is not very efficient. To improve it we will need a large number of changes both in the project design ... [More] assumptions as well as in different parts of the Grub. Here are some suggestions: New file format workunit: The main change in the protocol will be create a new schema file workunit. It is currently only allows for the processing of URLs. New should be made ​​more flexible to handle the processing of robots.txt file too as well as other network protocols. Tasks of client / server: Currently, the main cause of slow processing of URLs by Grub is that most of the work is done by the server. Therefore, in Grub 2.0 most tasks (anti-virus checking, converting to the Solr format) will be transferred to the client. It will use more computer resources for users, but should significantly speed up the whole Grub. Of course, it will also be able to handle the old processing model. All this means also a change in the communication between client and server. If you feel that something more needs to change in the project, we invite you for discussion on forum or in our IRC channel. Of course, until the new system is functioning, we will continue to use version 1.0 of Grub. But it will not add any new features will appear only a bugfix release.
