↵Hello everyone! In this dev blog, I'd like to show off some of the new assets our graphics artists have been working on. This isn't a comprehensive list, it's just an overview of their notable recent work. Enjoy!
Prison Buildings:
Recently
... [More]
, Hadestia donated some of their prison buildings to the project. They include an admissions office, mess halls, busses, cells, and concrete walls. Here are a handful of the assets:
Recycling Centers:
Volleyball #0242 and RockFort have created two new recycling buildings for the game. Each creator has their own unique style, and these buildings demonstrate that! Regardless, you can expect to see both versions in the game sometime in the future.
Industrial Logging Operation:
In addition to several new factories and skyscrapers, RockFort has also created a set of logging-themed industrial buildings! It includes two wood cutting areas and three shipping ports. He also made some decorative tiles you can use for custom ports. Personally, I can't wait to see these implemented into the game.!
French Museum:
Finally, I'd like to show you all an elegant building recreated by RockFort. In the real world, this place serves as a fishing museum for the local area. This will make a great addition to any seaside city in the future!

Tons of New Content:
Since summer began, I've been working on importing all of RockFort's assets into Cytopia. This was one of the biggest projects I've ever done for Cytopia, and I hope you enjoy all of the new buildings! However, the UI may make it

difficult to access many of the buildings, so I apologize for that. Here's a quick list of the most interesting additions:
Small garden park
Clusters
Piles of sand / gravel
Haystacks
Tents
Wavy ground decos
Roundabout decos
Industrial decos
French Police Station
High school and library
Hundreds of new RCI buildings
Even More Content:
In addition to RockFort's art, I've also added a few items made by other artists as well! Here's a quick list:
Billboards
Murky water
Willow, cotton top, and chopped trees
Big water tower
New Music Track:
"Tranquil Abduction" has been added to Cytopia's OST! It was named after the alien-like sounds near the beginning of the song. The song went forgotten for months until I found a link to it in a group chat. You can listen to the track here. I hope you enjoy it!
Changes / Fixes:
A few textures have been fixed. Hopefully, this will make your cities look slightly better!
Tour Vauban
Mailing office
Tourriva
Japanese hotel
Holiday trees
Run down skinny shop
Dense pine trees

For the last month and a half, I've been working on updating all the in-game buildings for our future UI update. Although we're still not sure when that update will be finished, a number of QoL changes and new items have been added to the game. You
... [More]
can see most of these changes yourself if you download the game from our itch io page. I hope you enjoy it because they are a lot more changes coming in the future!
New TileData Editor:
SimplyLiz (our lead dev) finished remaking our TileData in early February. This makes it very easy to add new buildings to the game, even if you don't know how to write JSON files. If you download the game on itch io, there should be an option to load the TileData editor when you click "Launch".
New Terrain Tiles and Ground Decos:
After the recent update, we added nearly thirty-five new terrain tiles and ground decos. These will make decorating your cities much easier. In addition, most of the buildings will now use the ground deco tiles underneath them, which gives many building extra variations. You can find these terrain tiles and ground decos in the Debug category. However, there is currently a bug with the shorelines. If you place water next to terrain, the shorelines will not appear automatically. To fix this, just use the delete tool on the water. This will update the adjacent tiles and cause the shorelines to appear.
New Categories:
After many months of laying dormant on GitHub, the new categories have finally been added to the game. Many of the buildings have been reorganized as well. Once the UI update is finished, the buildings will be organized even further. In addition, the game's default resolution has been set to 960x720p to compensate for these new additions.
Ponds:
Similar to the oases, ponds are a new item that will be used in map generation. They are small decorations that will appear within forests. Can you spot them in the following screenshot?
Texture Fixes:
Many, many buildings have been tweaked to remove stray pixels, incorrect shadows, and blank spaces. As I move into the future, I will keep an eye out for these problems as I add more buildings.
Future-Proofing:
Almost all of the in-game buildings have been updated with titles, descriptions, biomes, inhabitants, tags, and ground decos. Although most of these changes aren't visible in-game, they will help us in the future when the UI update is finished. Let me tell you, it is not easy writing descriptions for three hundred buildings. There are only so many synonyms for the word "house" in the English language. As a warning, some of the game's files have been moved around. If the game crashes after pressing "New Game", try reinstalling the game through itch io. This should fix any problems with misplaced files.
A Pretty Picture:
Please enjoy this nice screenshot I took with some of the game's new terrain tiles, rocks, and plants.

New Tree Type:
I have recently added oak trees to Ctyopia based on some art RcokFort made. In addition, I have also changed the map generation so it includes poplar, pine, birch, and oak trees! These changes are already live, so you should see them
... [More]
when you update the game.
Work-in-Progress Art Assets:
I am currently working on changing the look of the large rocks so they better suit the environments they'll appear in. Additionally, I am making several additions and changes to the flora system. Bushes and flowers will be getting more colors through our magic pixels systems, and the lily pads will be getting three more variations. In addition, I will be adding wild wheat and sugarcane to the game. These changes aren't quite ready yet, so expect to see them in a month or two!
New TileData Editior:
Our lead developer, SimplyLiz, has been working on a new tiledata editor for Cytopia. This will make the process of adding new items to the game much easier. Once the tool is finsihed, I will try to add all of the new buildings the game has been missing for the past year.
Language Select and More UI Progress:
The dev team has been hard at work creating a in-game language selection menu. Below is a work-in-progress screenshot. In addition, Ercadio had completed part one of his UI overhaul, which includes many new features. You can read his GitHub PR about it here.
Major Bug Fixed:
We have recently fixed a bug that could cause the game to close if you were playing on Linux. A misspelled file name was the root of this problem. [Less]

Welcome back, everyone! Since the last dev log, we've made a decent chunk of progress on the game, from adding all the new trees, to implementing our new font and cursor.
New Font:
We've been experimenting with some new, more versatile fonts
... [More]
recently. Let us know what you think about it on our Discord server! If you'd like to see this first hand, just update the game through the Itch io launcher.
Updated Main Menu Logo:
I recently updated our main menu logo to something that'll look a bit nicer. If you're wondering what the old one looked like, just take a look at the previous screenshot.
New Cursor:
In addition to the new font and logo, we've also added our own custom cursor. You can see an enlarged picture of them below:
New Trees (Finally):
After such a long time, I finally got around to adding all of Cytopia's new trees. All of them should appear in the flora category, but you might need to use a high resolution to see all of the flora options. In addition to the new trees, I also updated the names of all the previous trees to include their density.
Updated Mushroom and Road Textures:
I recently worked on improving our mushroom and road textures. Mushrooms should now be more colorful, and the dirt/alley roads shouldn't have any major tiling issues.

Hello and welcome to Dev Blog #18! Unfortunately, I had to skip last month because nothing major was added. The developers have been very busy with real-life stuff and they haven't had as much free time recently. Anyway, let me show you what we have
... [More]
done over the past two months!
Blueprint/Pipeview Improvements:
Westrox (one of our devs) is working on improving the blueprint view by showing buildings and roads while you're using it. It'll really help in the future when you're placing pipe infrastructure for your cities.
Improved Bushes:
Although they haven't been added to the map generation yet, I recently worked on improving the look of our bushes. They should be less cartoonish and bright now, which will make them fit into Cytopia's style better.
New Buildings:
Our other graphics artists have been working on making even more skyscrapers, modular buildings, and decorations for Cytopia! However, they haven't been added yet, so you aren't likely to see these in the game anytime soon.

Welcome back, everyone! In this month's dev blog, we have a few cool additions to cover and a large announcement regarding the Android version of Cytopia.
New Changes/Fixes:
A few changes and bug fixes have been made and will appear in public
... [More]
versions of the game soon. Two of these fixes include making water flora tiles overplacable and preventing the player from placing water under buildings. The third change adds the ability to modify the transparency of zones in the settings.
Android Version Goes Public!:
Recently, the Android version of Cytopia was released to the public. It can be found on our itch.io page! Just download the APK file and install it to experience Cytopia on your Android devices! However, please keep in mind that this is a veeeerrrry early version of the Android port. It still lacks optimization and proper controls, so please keep that in mind.
New Trees:
Two new tree types have been made for Cytopia: the stone pine and the cypress! Both of these trees come from the Mediterranian and they each have unique shapes. They'll be added to the game in the future and will likely be used in world generation at some point, so keep an eye out for them!
A Beautiful Castle:
Thanks to RockFort, Cytopia is now the home of a luxurious castle imported straight from France! This 7x7 behemoth is one of Cytopia's largest buildings and will go along well with some of our other medieval-inspired architecture.
