Wikimedia

Wikimedia is a global movement whose mission is to bring free educational content to the world. Through various projects, chapters, and the support structure of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, we operate some of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects, including Wikipedia, a top-ten internet property.

We develop dozens of free software projects open to contributors, including the MediaWiki content management system plus extensions, mobile apps, server infrastructure, analytics, fundraising and more.

Most development is traditionally performed by volunteers. Personal "pet projects" are included as well, as long as their main developers are wikimedians (e.g. wikipedians) and they have some relation to the Wikimedia wikis.
