I started my largest open source and GIS development effort with SharpMap, a lightweight and fast map renderer and spatial data tool for ASP.NET and WinForms. Parts of this project branched out into Proj.NET coordinate system projection engine, while another pet project ended up as SharpGPS, a .NET based GPS library for Windows Mobile and Desktop. "SQL Server 2008 Spatial Tools" is my most recent project, and Silverlight my new "thing"'
