Word War vi is one of the few open source games that have seen enough love to stand out. The game has enough variety (sorts of enemies) and detail (bridges falling apart, bonus point actions).
All that is missing are upgrades to the player vessel and an end boss (maybe there is one and I just never met him).
One great thing about the technical side of wwvi: it's scalable and fit for any resolution.
Notice: Fun rises when using a gamepad and does even more when it supports rumble effects.
I am an administrator of a forum that uses FUDforum. I like that the software generates an RSS-feed per default (no extension needed) and that there are rather advanced tools like thread merging.
I hate the default look of the forum, so I created a skin for it. That went kind of well, but then I wanted to modify it more and realized that I absolutely detest the theme system.
I once tried skinning phpBB2 and I'm not saying that FUD's theme system is *worse* than other forums. It's just not better.
There are some nasty bugs: registering fails sometimes, avatar upload appears to be a black box (works sometimes, sometimes not) which make me wish for a new release to come..
I have been using this excellent OpenGL/ALSA-recorder for more than a year now and have recorded (and uploaded) over 80 gameplay videos with it.
The encoding process might be scary for someone who does not understand video formats (that was my position when I started) but the online documentation helps climbing that learning curve with some handy examples.
I recently also discovered, that by emulating ALSA in OSS, the latter can be also used (I use OSS).
All in all a great app, no more need to get frustrated over recordmydesktop's bad performance when recording opengl. :)

As part of texlive-bin, this script removes white borders/margin/padding and allows to maximize screen space. This is especially super for ebook readers! (I'm so glad I don't have to manually configure the zoom level on my ebook reader any more.)
The Vanilla forum software is the one forum software which hurts you very little compared to other forum software(s).
For example http://www.inkscape-forum.de/ uses it.
Unfortunately http://www.inkscapeforum.com/ does not use it. =(
This is awesome! A visually high-quality, free casual game! (well, the special thing is, that it's all three things at the same time, where free is free as in fleebom)
