The tree is broken right now. however, I think it's served its purpose thus far as a Spike Solution.

There's a group of us who are interested and will be beginning work on what will (hopefully) be the canonical Develop activity Real Soon Now (TM).

I find that it's pretty easy to install and configure (although examples are helpful, heh).

As for security holes, I haven't heard of one for a while...

Can one gazillion name servers be wrong? ;)
