How often is source repository reparsed ?

Our project Mediboard has been enlisted a month ago, and data is still not updated. I understand how resource consuming reparsing must be, but I wanted to know how it's scheduled.

Anyway, congrats for your great system!

Hi, mytto -

We don't have a regular update schedule yet. We've designed our system to be very quick with incremental updates, and in the long term we hope that popular projects might be updated once per day. However, we've been having some growing pains as our site picks up on traffic, and a lot of large new projects are coming in. We've been prioritizing our server resources towards these new projects, and existing projects are only getting updated about once per week if they are popular. Less popular projects have not been refreshed in a while.

As time goes on, things will speed up.

All that being said, I went ahead and pushed Mediboard to the head of the queue. Your new report is ready.

Thanks,

Robin

Hi Robin,

Thanks for your answer.

I was wondering whether it'd be possible to help, by somehow sharing some server bandwith and proc cycles. Has a distributed model even been envisaged for your project?

Anyway, thanks a lot for pushing up Mediboard, but that wasn't my intend to get upholded.

Perhaps you could add a button to the project page to specifically request an update. A bit of javascript with a random verification key could prevent people from setting up auto request scripts. You could also put a timer on it, and only allow one requested update per day or per week.

As an alternative, it would be nice to at least have an indication of when a project is scheduled for its next update. Something on the enlistment page would be appropriate.

I agree with zero. It would be really nice to have a request update button or at least an indication of the likely next update. I certainly don't expect my project to be tracked as closely as more popular projects. OTOH, it would be nice to know if it's once per month, every other month... etc.

Thanks!

Yeah, having a 'request update' button on that Enlistments page would be great.
