Kudo calculation??

Hi,

I don't really get how those kudos are calculated? I managed to add a couple of the dozens of projects I contributed to in the past weeks. Most of them had my commiting accounts ranked 8 or 9 in Kudos. However, after collecting these (via alias) all their kudos are lost.

It seems, there's a bug or problem with Kudos, especially when people contribute with different accounts to different projects.

My account also still says:

Ohloh is currently recalculating the >coding experience. Facts may change >soon.
For the last 2 or 3 weeks !!?

Another user and co SpecLead at JCP I invited to Ohloh created his account. And although he only commited to one project (JScience) having around 9m Java experience total and my given Kudo is the only one he received, his rank is 8.
I have a total experience of several years in your system (still counting ;-) so I guess the Kudo calculation should be fixed soon.

Thanks and Regards,
Werner

Hi Werner,

I do not think this is a problem with KudoRank -- I think this is a problem with your account not linking to your source code commits properly.

Looking at your account page, I see many projects for which you do not have any commits shown.

For example, on the Eclipse Babel Project your name is shown without any commits.

You will not receive any Kudos from a project unless you are credited with some commits.

On your account page, there is an EDIT link next to each project. This link takes you to a page where you can edit your contribution to the project, including the important Committer Name.

For each project where you have 0 commits, you should use this form to choose a Committer Name that matches a name used in the source control. There is an autocompleter to help you pick a valid name.

Once you have valid names in all of the projects, Kudos should appear, and the recalculating message will go away.

Let me know if you have more trouble,

Robin

Hi Robin,

I have around 2000 commits and over half a million lines of code, if that doesn't count either, I guess there IS something wrong with your KudoRank.

Please have a look at it. If only projects with a SINGLE committer name would work for that (which it looks like at the moment telling from my co-spec lead's example ;-) the system may seem a little unflexible...

Especially since you mentioned Eclipse Babel, there's been a couple of posts regarding a different form of contribution there.

Please get in touch with Eclipse foundation, as using the Babel Translation Commits is the only way you'll get appropriate data for Babel.

I don't recall the exact number of lines or tokens I alone translated there, but especially for a project like Mylyn which the owners left completely untranslated I have done nearly 80% of the existing German translations.

Cheers,
Werner

My account is at 7 now including 1 given by another member. I guess this is a good progress. Should recalculation still add more, I'd be very happy, but compared to other community members I know and respect I feel this matches my own contributions more than the previous value ;-)
