Merging historical repository info

Hello,

I just added the Free Pascal Compiler's svn repository (http://ohloh.com/projects/3311). But the bulk of our history is actually in the cvs repository (:pserver:[email protected]:/FPC/CVS, password cvs). We did not migrate the cvs history to the svn repository when we switched (just did an svn checkin of a checked out cvs copy).

Is it possible to add the cvs history later and merge it with the consecutive svn history, or does it need a separate project?

Thanks,

Jonas

How about just adding another enlistment to your project? I assume no-one is going to be committing to the CVS repository anymore, so your stats will be accurate.

I've done that now (and the cvs repository is indeed read-only), but I'm afraid it'll add the LOCs of the cvs repository to those in the svn repository at the time of the switch over, thereby completely messing up all statistics.

Sorry jmaebe,

I should have answered a little sooner. This question has appeared before, so instead of adding another answer, i've promoted it to our brand new FAQ (http://ohloh.net/wiki/about/faq). Unfortunately the short answer is that we don't support your scenario yet. You're not the only one with this project so this we'll likely get fixed for our next major release.

Great, thanks!

Hello, our project (floAt's Mobile Agent) has similar problem. We migrated our repository from CVS to SVN few month ago. Here is listed just state from CVS repository but not the current changes which are made in SVN repository. I doubt if i should add the SVN, because it will double the linecount or we will lost our old stats.

But i have suggestion how to solve it. There could be some special command switch repository. This will save the old repository stats and remove references on old repository. Then the new repository would be specified and counted the new LOC and stats will be just fine. What do you think?
