LGPL v2.1 vs LGPL v3

Hi,

I don't understand why my project Elastic Grid seems to be seens as LGPL v2.1 instead of the LGPL v3 I use in my headers.

Is there anything I can fix?

Thanks,
Jérôme.

Projects don't have to switch to the most current version of LGPL, v3. Apparently there are license compatibility issues regarding use of LGPL v3 libraries with GPL v2 code. See, for instance, http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl-faq.html#AllCompatibility .

The choice of LGPLv3 was done because of its compatibility with ASLv2, which was something not allowed with LGPLv2.

So this choice was done, on I hope a good decision from us :-)

Anyway, I don't understand why Ohloh can't figure out if I use LGPLv2 or LGPLv3. Maybe there is something wrong with my headers?

Sorry, I didn't understand this is your project. I thought you were asking about the project's choice of license rather than about an Ohloh issue.

No problem :-)

Thanks for the link I wasn't aware of.

Hi jeje,

Our license detector is somewhat finicky, and for some reason it is not identifying this license correctly.

It should be an easy fix, and I'll prepare a fresh report sometime today.

Thanks,
Robin

Thanks a lot.

At least I know it's not something wrong with my headers :-)

Thanks again,
Jérôme.

Hi jeje,

I think this is now fixed. I'm showing hits on LGPL3 in the source code now, which looks correct.

Thanks,
Robin

My project is now classified as using LGPLv3.

Thanks for the update,
Jérôme.
