Using Kudo rankings for academic reseach

Hi all,

I am a post-doc from Switzerland running a research project on social networks of F/LOSS developers.
I would be greatly interested in using the kudo ranking of developers among the other data I am collecting. More specifically, I would like to have the raking history of the registered developers and to be able to link the ids of the developers on Ohloh with the ids they use when committing code.

In the very short therm I would like to run some exploratory analysis on a single project (for example Evolution).

I have read about the API, but I do not have an API key yet (and probably I would need help anyway to form the correct queries).

Could you please give me some advice?

Hi again,

I got my API key and I started experimenting with the API.
I hope you can answer to this question: is there an accessible history of the kudo rank scores?
In other terms, can the evolution of the kudo rank of an account be traced?

thanks in advance

Hi gconaldi,

The history of the KudoRank scores is not currently accessible through the web site or API.

We do retain a limited amount of the KudoRank history in our database, but most of it is discarded to conserve space.

We've considered a feature to display historical KudoRank data before, but we've postponed it simply because we have so many other things to do.

It's never easy to decline a good feature request, but it will probably be a while before we have the time to get this implemented.

Thanks,
Robin
