Hi,
It appears that the Apache Tuscany project is not updating. It has not been updated since 30th October 2007. See:
http://www.ohloh.net/projects/3491?p=Apache+Tuscany
Any chance of the project being updated?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I'm not sure why, but the Tuscany project has been troublesome for our downloader over the last few months -- we seem to get a lot of hung jobs that never complete.
I'll keep an eye on Tuscany over the next few days and see if I can get it to go through.
Thanks,
Robin
Hi,
The Tuscany project has been attempting to update over the last few days. I've seen it fail a few times and restart. Most of the failures I have seen have been on Step 3 - counting the lines of source. However, this mornings failure has been in downloading the SVN repository.
Any ideas why it fails on Step 3?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Step 3 failures are almost always some kind of problem on our end. In this case, we ran out of disk space. Sigh. The job has been rescheduled, but we're a bit backed up, so it might be a day or two. I'll bump the priority and try to get you through today.
Hi,
Just to let you know that Step 3 has now completed successfully. Thanks for fixing that. It is now saying that it was last updated 7 hours ago :-)
One thing I have noticed is that some of the stats have been updated such as the number of files and the percentages for each file type. However, the front page
of the report is still showing 30th October.
I was wondering if there is a delay in updating the front page report?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I don't know quite how to tell you this, but after a month of your patient requests for an update it looks like I have screwed this all up pretty badly, and the new report we prepared still has the code from October 30.
I'm going through the logs now trying to figure out what the heck happened. This project has a particularly long and confusing log, but I will get to the bottom of it.
Thanks for your patience,
Robin
Mark, I've (finally) figured out why our Tuscany download is taking so long.
It's extremely important that we only download the trunk.
The URL provided to Ohloh (https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/tuscany) includes all branches and tags. Because Subversion presents each branch and tag as a complete duplicate of the entire project, this leads to an order of magnitude increase in the amount of work Ohloh has to do.
I've killed the download job. I couldn't easily find the trunk for this project. If you can let me know where the trunk directory is, I'm confident we can get this project on Ohloh pretty quickly.
Hi Robin,
Thanks for your continued efforts to get Tuscany importing. I do appreciate all your teams work.
Good news about discovering the cause of the problem. I've submitted a new URL that just contains the trunk.
Thanks
Mark
Hi,
Just to update you, the source code downloads have been progressing well but a bit slowly. It's down from around 8000 source file downloads to less than 3000.
However, it appears that a recent download failure has seemed to have stalled the download.
Is there any chance that someone could give the Tuscany project another prod to get it to resume the downloads.
Thanks for you help,
Mark
We have new throttling rules that restrict a single project to 8 hours of server time each day. It makes initial downloads of large projects slower than before, but keeps the overall update queue moving more smoothly.
It looks like we had a connection failure to the Apache servers during the last run. It should run again as normal tonight.
I'm still keeping an eye on this job -- I'm looking forward to finally getting it done :-)
Robin
Hi Robin,
Just to let you know that the Apache project has updated successfully! The project summary is now up to date as of 17th March.
It appears that Ohloh is also making another pass over the project to get the latest updates.
Once again, thanks for the help that I received from yourself and your team.
Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Yes, I've been very pleased to watch this download finally finish today.
However, the new download appears to not just be getting the latest changes -- for some mysterious reason is appears to be starting all over from the beginning again. Sigh... maybe we're just cursed. :-)
Hi Robin,
Just to let you know that the Tuscany project seems to be imported successfully now. It has just done an import and is literally only 6 hours out of date with the SVN repository :-)
Hopefully, future updates should now be small and go without any problems.
Thanks for your help,
Mark
