You're right, it does make sense to do this, unfortunately, there is no standard way across all open source projects of recording this information and thus no obvious algorithm for extracting the information from the logs.

Hi Maciej, I restarted the import and it completed. It then scheduled a fetch and the subsequent import failed for the same reason as we've had previously. It's clear ohloh will continue to ... [More] struggle with Merb. What's going on is that our git importer struggles when it runs finds a new commit in the tree that is older in timestamp than one is has processed. For projects like Merb with many contributors, this is going to happen all the time as you merge in users local changes. We want to fix this soon but in the mean time, I'll add to my calendar a task to fix this by hand once a week.
