So we can get Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher working great with wine now, 0.9.52 really makes the difference, we’re still working on getting Access and Outlook working but things have moved along in testing, we only have one stumbling block…

So, the last two days I’ve been hard at work coding on the 0.2 structure and user interface, the application layout is a lot simpler and I’ve completely decoupled the user interface from the core functionality, so you’ll be able to use wine-doors on the command line or qt or whatever, osx is being looked [...]

We’ve ditched IEs4Linux, our reasons for this are many, mostly we couldn’t pull IE in as a dep, and the bottling arrangement would have made progress slow for us. Wine-doors 0.1.2 has been released, this release sees vastly improved exception handling thanks to Andrew Stormont who joined the project after 0.1.1, along with some new features tweaks and various other fixes. We’ve made a lot of changes in wine-doors since 0.1.2, the current trunk is very stable and a big improvement over 0.1.1 a summary of the changes is as follows;
Added CD autorun support (astormont)
Fixes to many exceptions and crashers (pretty much all of them!)
Fixes to many packages
Improvements to the UI

A guy named Tom Wickline who has wine skills far beyond myself has come on board to advise us on some office 2003 issues and assist in getting things up and running. He runs a site called Wine Review which has a lot of cool hacks and tricks for getting some stuff up and running.
