Supergiant will join other containerization experts at AWS re:Invent 2017 in Las Vegas on November 27 - December 1to introduce our new open-source Kubernetes as a Service product. Connect with peers and cloud experts, engage in ... [More] hands-on labs and bootcamps, and learn how AWS can improve developer productivity, network security, and application performance while keeping infrastructure costs low. Supergiant Cloud is fully-managed, auto-scaling Kubernetes. Use Supergiant's intuitive UI to launch containers and Helm Charts just like apps. Add a custom registry and launch custom projects without fuss. Supergiant uses a packing algorithm that typically results in 25% lower compute-hour resources. It also enhances predictability, enabling customers with fluctuating resource needs to more fully leverage forward pricing such as AWS Reserved Instances. The Supergiant team has three CKA's (Certified Kubernetes Administrators) and is among the first selected by the CNCF as official Service Providers for our extensive expertise, enterprise Kubernetes support capacity, and contributions to the Kubernetes ecosystem. Supergiant is available on Github. It is free to download and usable under an Apache 2 license. It currently works with Amazon Web Services, Digital Ocean, Open Stack, Google Cloud, and Packet. Supergiant is a member and contributor to The Linux Foundation and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. [Less]

Cloud Native Computing Foundation Names Inaugural Class of Providers at Open Source Summit During the opening keynote of Open Source Summit North America, the CNCF named eleven companies as Kubernetes Certified Service Providers ... [More] (KCSP). We are very proud that the Supergiant team is one of them. Link to the press release here. The plan to designate Kubernetes Certified Service Providers was first announced at KubeCon North America last November. Since then, the CNCF has been busy working with a community of top Kubernetes engineers to implement a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) exam and standards for certified providers. The working group established four requirements: Membership in CNCF and the Linux Foundation. Begun as a joint venture between Google (initial creator of Kubernetes) and the Linux Foundation, the CNCF has rapidly expanded to include 10 cloud native projects, including Prometheus, containerd, rkt, and others. Supergiant has been a CNCF member since mid-2015. Three Certified Kubernetes Administrators. This, of course, required passing the CKA exam, released in beta at the end of August. A record of contributions to the project.  Supergiant co-creator, Mike Johnston, was an invited participant in the working group that created the CKA exam. A business plan for implementing Kubernetes-related services for clients. Our team built Qbox.io to serve highly available services for clients all over the world, and we cut our infrastructure expenses 50% with an engineered move to Kubernetes. We’re now ready to help your teams do the same. We are honored to have this designation. Our KCSP practice starts today with the team offering a range of Kubernetes products, including open-source tools, consulting, development support, and kubernetes production support options. [Less]

In late March, Mike Johnston of Supergiant presented "Zombie Kubernetes! Making Nodes Rise from the Dead" at KubeCon EU 2017 in Berlin. He focused on how to install Kubernetes using immutable configuration and also covered ... [More] removing points of provisioning failure by leveraging cloud-config for configuration. [slideshare id="74462168"] About Supergiant Supergiant runs on top of Kubernetes and ensures that things are easier for engineering and support teams to configure. It doesn't obscure Kubernetes in any way: it simply brings deep Kubernetes features to the surface and makes them easy to manage. Supergiant’s packing algorithm also augments Kubernetes' built-in resource allocation by automatically handling instance provisioning and allocation for you. For example, if you are running large instances for your cluster, it does not make sense to start another large server for just one customer. The packing algorithm will automatically choose the correct servers that meet the specific needs of your environment. We hope you have enjoyed this article.
