New Zealanders who missed out on the Google Summer of Code can, starting Friday, apply to be a part of the second New Zealand one, run during our summer! Last year SilverStripe choose two students, Andrew, and Jeremy, who continue to be paid to work on our open source project.

Making our software free is a key part of SilverStripe's philosophy, along with making it easier for people to build and manage websites.

Last month SilverStripe hosted the Wellington PHP meetup. Sam Minneé[sam-minnee/] and Sigurd Magnusson[sigurd-magnusson/] demonstrated how to build a SilverStripe-powered website. Lots of questions were asked, and beers and chips consumed. Here are some photos from the night.

They also run hundreds of regular parenting courses around New Zealand, which I personally recommend.
