o Added the possibility to assign a common value to a whole submatrix with fancy indexing, e.g., A[:3,:3] = 6, A[n:,:m] = 1, etc. o Added method __imul__ to PysparseMatrix class to allow operations like A[:10,:10] *= 2. Under the hood, this calls scale(). o Updated the html and pdf documentation for all that. o Added blurbs on sparse matrix formats to the documentation.

- Added Numpy arrays to the list of objects that can be used to index a sparse matrix. The documentation has an example. - Added a front page for the new website. - Added the PDF manual to the Doc directory.

+ Added to the documentation, including updated comparisons with Matlab + Fixed the layout of the html documentation so the sidebar is properly placed + Fixed docstring and tests of pysparseSuperLUSolver and pysparseUmfpackSolver + Updated setup.py so a user can link to his/her own UMFPACK + Moved the 'irsteps' optional argument from the factorize() method to the solve() method in UMFPACK.

o Added comments to the general pysparseMatrix methods and thus to the documentation, In the documentation of a class, is it appropriate to use Sphinx markup, or is it too difficult to read? o Added examples related to the LU factorizations, o Played with the stylesheet of the docs a bit.

o Improved the efficiency of fancy indexing, especially when both index sets are Python slices. There are still aspects to improve.

o Added fancy indexing to ll_mat matrices. Most of it carries over to PysparseMatrix instances, o Started some documentation based on the Sphinx framework, located in Doc/pysparse. The ReST source files are in Doc/pysparse/source. In Doc/pysparse, type 'make html' or 'make latex'.

- Added a find() method to ll_mat objects and PysparseMatrix objects - Fixed the examples in the PysparseMatrix class definition - Added a PysparseMatrix + scalar method in __add__. This operation adds the scalar to all nonzero elements of the sparse matrix, so the result is a sparse matrix.

Converted private symbols into public symols in sparseMatrix.py and pysparseMatrix.py. Updated the SuperLU and UMFPACK classes as well as the test classes.

By default, use the version of SuperLU supplied with Pysparse. The variables superlu_include_dirs, superlu_src_dir, superlu_lib_dir and superlu_libraries now have (slightly) more sensible values. The user will however need to give them values appropriate for his/her system.

- Added abstract sparse matrix class taken from Fipy and slightly modified. - Added abstract directSolver class. SuperLU and UMFPACK are now subclasses of directSolver. They are defined in pysparseSuperLU and pysparseUmfpack. - setup.py now lets the user build against the latest sources of SuperLU by setting the use_users_superlu variable to True (see setup.py). The new superlu3module.c realizes the interface. - Added test classes to demo pysparseSuperLU and pysparseUmfpack. - Updated umfpackmodule.c to return factors and info on the factorization.
