After 12 years, the m0n0wall project has officially ended. No development will be done anymore, and there will be no further releases.

m0n0wall does not, and has never, included the Bash shell in the distributed software images. Therefore, it is not affected by the recently discovered "Shellshock" vulnerability.

In m0n0wall 1.8.1, the base system has been switched to FreeBSD 8.4 for better support of recent hardware, and there have been significant improvements, new features and bug fixes in many areas.

m0n0wall 1.34 is a maintenance release with low priority security fixes for CSRF/XSS issues in the webGUI.

The beta branch of m0n0wall, version 1.8, has been updated to use FreeBSD 8.3 as the base operating system.

Development on a FreeBSD 8.2 based m0n0wall version (with improved hardware/IPv6/WLAN/etc. support) is progressing well; there is now an automated snapshot building system in place that generates new images whenever a commit to the repository has taken place.

m0n0wall 1.33 adds a new image type for generic PCs with a serial console, further improves IPv6 support, includes a driver for newer Realtek network chipsets and contains various small changes and bug fixes.
