Another bugfix update for OpenMPT 1.27 has been released today. This is likely to be the last maintenance update before the next feature release, OpenMPT 1.28. These are the most important changes in this release: With "always center active row" disabled, cancelling a pattern selection by clicking into the pattern did not set the cursor position correctly. Reject overly long MP3 / FLAC / Vorbis / Opus / Media Foundation samples. Fix crackling, initial missing frames or sometimes even completely in audible instrument preview in the tree view. The first few frames of previewed notes in the sample, instrument and pattern editors were sometimes cut off. Jump commands on the same row as the end of a pattern loop covering the restart position of the module could cause the module to loop even when looping was disabled. Possible crash with malformed ITP files. Scrolling with touch gestures did not scroll the pattern, sample and instrument editor contents (despite changing the scrollbar position) on Windows 8 and later. When trying to append a module with differing global swing settings, the time signature was not overridden properly. The first release of OpenMPT 1.28 is slowly nearing completion, and we already want to celeberate one of the upcoming new features with you: OpenMPT will finally gain support for synthesized OPL instruments in S3M and MPTM files! To make this new ... [More] feature more easily discoverable, we decided to host a competition: Make a song using FM instruments and regular samples using either the MPTM or S3M format to show off the beauty of this synthesis combination. Another bugfix update for OpenMPT 1.27 has been released today. While continuing our work on new features for OpenMPT 1.28, a couple of bugs have been found that are fixed in this small release: Mix-pasting multiple patterns including +++ or --- ... [More] patterns inserted those patterns at the beginning of the orderlist. They are now ignored completely. Entering a note, then pressing the chord modifier and releasing the key was interpreted as releasing a chord, which could lead to a crash when accessing bogus chord key channels. Picking up an instrument number higher than the number of usable instruments in the dropdown list was not possible. Channels whose volume envelope was playing at volume 0 while being moved to a NNA background channel were cut off completely since OpenMPT 1.27.07.00. Fixed a crash with some malformed tunings. AMF (ASYLUM): Convert 7-bit panning to 8-bit panning for playback. The crash handler no longer includes the installation GUID in crash reports as it theoretically allows de-anonymizing update statistics. The following other things have changed: New shortcuts for envelope editor: Switch to Volume / Panning / Pitch / Filter Envelope, Toggle Volume / Panning / ... [More] Pitch / Filter Envelope, Toggle Envelope Loop, Toggle Envelope Sustain Loop, Toggle Envelope Carry. Convert sample properties when importing samples via Media Foundation codecs (for MOD / XM). Select next item after deleting a file in the treeview to prevent scrolling back to top on Wine. Sending or receiving SysEx messages through the plugin bridge resulted in a crash. When automating more than 64 plugin parameters of a bridged plugin at the same time (also when restoring saved parameters), parameter 0 was reset to a value of 0. The resonant filter was sometimes unstable when combining low-volume samples, low cutoff and high mixing rates. Switching between instruments with portamento did not update the NNA settings. AMS: Possible crash during load in low memory situations. Various small playback fixes (FAR, MID, STM, ULT). Another small update for OpenMPT 1.27 containing mostly bugfixes and some small improvements has been released today. Most importantly, this update fixes a bug where importing soundfont instruments into IT / XM files accidentally enabled the volume ... [More] envelope's release node. Since the release node is an MPTM-specific feature, but could still be saved in such files for legacy purposes, the saved IT / XM files could sound vastly different when played in other software. You are strongly encouraged to to update if you make frequent use of SF2 and DLS instruments. The following other things have changed: Keep track of active SFx macro during seeking. Prepend plugin name to default filename when saving a plugin preset or bank. The "note cut" duplicate note action did not volume-ramp the previously playing sample. DSM: Support restart position and 16-bit samples. DTM: Import global volume. Possible crash when calculating song length in patterns with many nested pattern loops. Fixed previewing of notes after replacing a sample with an active sample selection by a shorter sample. DLS / SF2 / SFZ: Set release node for volume envelopes in MPTM format. [More] number keys impossible. This is now fixed, together with the following other bugfixes and improvements: Seeking with sample sync now supports fine volume slides. Interpolating the note column no longer overwrites existing instrument numbers. Fixed a possible crash when trying to enter notes after deleting all patterns. In the Find/Replace dialog, pre-fill the Find fields with values from the current pattern cell if they have not been used in a previous search. Various bugfixes in Find/Replace. Added drop-down menus for saving all samples and instruments. Upsampling a sample selection did not scale the new selection correctly if its end exceeded the old sample length. In the comments editor, soft tabs did not have the correct size most of the time. No longer enforce dragged-over items to be completely visible when using drag and drop.
