The maemo roadmap has been updated with a whole collection of new features planned to expand the development platform. Now we will start providing details about each feature through links to bugzilla enhancement requests. This way those interested
... [More]
in a feature can follow it receiving email updates, comment on it and vote.
The maemo roadmap reflects the plans of the core maemo team at Nokia as well as those pushed by community developers and third parties. Garage project maintainers can add their plans and wishes. Anybody has a chance to propose a feature to be listed in the roadmap, you only need a good idea well explained and supported.
Contact us if you have already a request formulated in bugzilla and you want to have it in the roadmap.

We have just published the maemo trademark policy draft for community review. Its purpose is to regulate the usage of the maemo mark, owned by Nokia, basically allowing the good uses and discouraging all the rest. We have followed a flexible approach
... [More]
similar to the Mozilla Foundation Trademark Policy and the GNOME Trademark Licensing.
Please have your say. This trademark is also a tool to protect your interests as maemo users and developers.
The materials:
http://maemo.org/intro/licenses/trademark_faq.html
Start here specially if you are not familiar with trademark texts. Contains the most essential elements of the rest of documents.
http://maemo.org/intro/licenses/trademark_policy.html
The basic text. Contains the what, the why and the how.
http://maemo.org/intro/licenses/trademar_usage_guidelines.html
Willing to use the maemo mark? Have a look here for guidance and instructions.
http://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/1362/maemo_logos_v3.3.zip
The set of official logos. The one that is in the current web header plus other variants (B/W, 3D, etc).
Of course all the projects/products currently called maemo something can keep the name. You were quicker than us, well done. You will be subject to the policy and guidelines, though, just like anybody else (including i.e. the team running this website).
New projects/products willing to have a name maemo something will need to contact us for authorization. This is normal practice for the use of many open source related marks. [Less]

We have finally launched the new maemo website. The changes are concentrated in the backend and the layout:
A dynamic homepage reflects what is going on in the maemo community, including Garage and Planet news.
A new layout is applied all
... [More]
across the *.maemo.org pages, providing a common user experience.
The core maemo.org runs on top of a Midgard CMS, making content publishing much easier and decentralized.
The Announcements section reflects what is going on in the maemo project in addition to new software releases.
The Roadmap is now official, it will grow with more features and detail (up to you as well).
User accounts have been partially integrated, and now your Garage account will allow you to edit wiki pages as well.
New maemo logo features free fonts and wil be regulated by a trademark policy to be put under community review soon.
A maemo/Nokia separation is applied for the good of both i.e. Nokia licensed software is hosted now in Nokia servers.
maemo Bugzilla has been upgraded and now has look&feel integrated to the rest of the website.
Read Ferenc's announcement and Quim's backstage view for more details.
With the new tools in place, the next wave of effort will be concentrated on the web content and structure (among other projects to be announced soon). Some fixes and improvements are expected to happen soon, The real change, though, will come through a better integration between the maemo development team and the online documentation, Bugzilla and mailing lists. We have started looking at our processes to make this happen. The immediate hire of the so long awaited doc manager will definitely help.
Your feedback is appreciated, as always. Remember to submit bugs as such in Bugzilla, as well as feature requests.
