Project Summary

The GPS preview is a GTK based project to create a usable GUI tool with the simple (some positioning schema but no maps) of OpenMoko mobile platform. One of the first projects of this kind, it relies on the direct NMEA output from some pipe and does not require any additional libraries to work. It detects GPRMC and GPGGA messages and shows location, speed, altitude and curved distance till the initially marked point.
The application also has the "map" tab which shows the path, passed by the phone. There is no real map with actual details of the objects in that location. The project uses GTK framework and C programming language.
