Download it and try it out. You'll see many improvements in this release, which is still API-compatible with 1.0. Please report all issues on trac, user=guest/pw=guest.

Today Brad Neuberg of RSH and Dojo Offline fame blogged about the awesome work he's been doing on the dojox.storage module. His recent patches have resurrected the Flash storage provider, reworked the HTML 5 storage engine, and completely reworked

the JS/Flash bridge based on some recent finding regarding updates to Flash's ExternalInterface API. Also check out the short screencast that Brad did which covers the awesomeness that is dojox.storage.
This, and hundreds of other improvements and bug fixes will be part of Dojo 1.1. [Less]

Today I had the good fortune to run into some of the folks from the MapQuest team on the SxSW tradeshow floor. For some months now they've had a beta version of their service online which has made extensive use of Dojo and DWR (our sister Dojo

Foundation project) to improve the user experience of the world's largest mapping service. This past week MapQuest flipped the switch and the improvement in usability over the previous UI is noticeable while still retaining much of the traditional MapQuest task flow. MapQuest has a gigantic user-base and introducing new features on a product that large is no small feat, particularly when a well-understood UI has helped the site preserve its huge traffic numbers all these years. If the Beta is any version, there's tons of great stuff in the pipeline which didn't make it into last weeks launch, including dojox.gfx-based features like pin-drop annotations. It'll be exciting to see how the MapQuest crew rolls those features out to their massive audience.
Our hearty congrats to the MapQuest team on launching! [Less]

Google is again running the Summer of Code programme in 2008, and Dojo is gearing up to participate. Over the past three years, Google has spent millions of dollars to pay over 1500 talented individuals to work on open source software projects. At
... [More]
Dojo we have some big goals for this year, and right now we're starting to look for students, mentors, and project ideas.
General info on the Dojo SoC
Project ideas list - feel free to add your own or comment on those listed.
Students
If you're eligible and are interested in being paid to work on Dojo over the summer, find an idea and get in touch about it. If you're a parent or know some good students, encourage them to apply. There are lots of exciting projects listed already and we'll be adding more over the next few weeks. Applications are due to Google in the last week of March.
Mentors
This year we're keen to involve more of our community as mentors. Each student will have 2 mentors to help support the project, and we'd love it if only one is an existing Dojo committer.
So, if you:
know some part of Dojo well,
have ~5h to spare each week between 26 May and 18 August,
are interested in any of the ideas or have your own,
and want to get more involved in Dojo development:
Get in touch with Me! This is a perfect opportunity.
Your friendly SoCcer,
Rob :) [Less]
