We’ve rebased the HotSpot 23 support in the upcoming 1.13.x release of IcedTea (currently HEAD, no branch as yet) so that it uses HotSpot from the u25 tag in the OpenJDK repositories rather than the IcedTea 2.3.x version. This gives the potential ... [More] for this same version of HotSpot to be added upstream in OpenJDK 6. Users, especially those on ARM32, are strongly encouraged to test the latest HEAD revision. This week again brought a few new Early Access builds of the JDK and related projects.On the JDK 7 side, the JDK 7 Update 40 Early Access Releases have been updated to 7u40 Build b40.This week's 7u40 build also contains the changes introduced in b39 ... [More] (there was only one):a fix for issue 8022548: "SPECJVM2008 has errors introduced in 7u40-b34" in the XML processing area, which may be interesting if you happen to use an XML parser that uses a different configuration then the default JDK one.On the JDK 8 side, the JDK 8 Early Access Releases Build b103 is now available for testing.This build updates HotSpot in JDK 8 to HotSpot 25 build 45. In addition, this build contains several javac and doclint warning fixes across the core class libraries and adds support for Project Lambda concepts in core reflection, along with a number of bug fixes.An extensive list of changes since the previous build is linked off the download site.Happy testing! On the JDK 8 side, the JDK 8 Early Access Releases Build b102 is now available for testing.This build updates HotSpot in JDK 8 to HotSpot 25 build 44, which turns on Tiered Compilation by default. In addition, this build contains another batch of JSR 310 DateTime API and Nashorn updates, along with a number of bug fixes.An extensive list of changes since the previous build is linked off the download site.Happy testing! If you are curious about OS X Retina support, for example, make sure to take a look at that page.On the JDK 8 side, the JDK 8 Early Access Releases Build b101 is now available for testing. This build updates HotSpot in JDK 8 to HotSpot 25 build 43.Like many other things, testing JDK 8 EA builds is probably more fun together, so Adopt OpenJDK has started an effort to test major open source Java/JVM projects with JDK 8 EA builds.
