Software developers know that quality of software projects tend to deteriorate over time unless strong measures are taken to prevent this. Splunk is a very good enterprise search engine, engineered for speed, robustness, and scalability.  CFEngine has search capabilities but without the agility of the Splunk search interface and backend.Also, in an established Splunk environment or for many other reasons, CFEngine log searching may not be the primary search solution.
