Added some diagnostic menu items for looking at the character set issues. Added option for assuming the incoming bytes are utf8 or Code Page 437 characters with nice box drawing characters. It occurs to me that we might have a problem if a UTF8 multi-byte sequence is split across incoming events. That would break UTF8 encoding to chars, wouldn't it?
