Version 3.0.0 of BackupPC is available at http://backuppc.sourceforge.net. BackupPC is a perl-based high-performance, enterprise-grade backup system for backing up Linux, WinXX and MacOSX PCs and laptops to a server's disk using SMB, tar or rsync. ... [More] Features include clever pooling of identical files, no client-side software, and a powerful Apache/CGI user interface. Release 3.0.0 is a major new release with many new features including: * New configuration and host CGI editor. * Rsync hardlink support (needs latest File::RsyncP). * Decoupled BackupPC_dump from BackupPC_nightly. * Support for multi-level incrementals. * Added RSS support from Rich Duzenbury. * Server file names are now in utf8 and optional conversion to/from client name charsets can be configured. All CGI pages now use the utf8 charset. * Per-client backups file (that summarizes each backup) can be recovered if corrupted. This is done by storing each backup's metadata to pc/HOST/nnn/backupInfo. * BackupPC_sendEmail has new options for sending test emails and checking if BackupPC is alive (allowing a cron entry to check if BackupPC is alive). * New scripts BackupPC_fixupBackupSummary (for recovering corrupted backups files) and BackupPC_tarPCCopy (for copying the hardlinks in the PC data directory). See the change log for full details. [Less]
